Wyong Train Station

Wyong railway station is located in Wyong on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia. The station is a side station with three platforms, including one for terminating intercity trains from Sydney, half of which terminate here (the other half continuing to Newcastle).

The station is a hub for transport on the Central Coast with bus and taxi connections. The station is attended by station staff and is staffed from the first train service to the last. History

Ourimbah School was the first school in what is now Wyong Shire and was built in 1863 on the site of the present railway station. In 1886 the school was moved to the opposite side of the road.

Wyong Station was opened in 1887. However, it was the completion of the Sydney to Newcastle railway in 1889 passing through Wyong, which really started significant expansion and development in the area. The railway enabled the growth of the timber industry with an immense demand for railway sleepers and the transportation to ship it.

Platforms and services

In the off-peak period, two services operate to Sydney Terminal and one service to Newcastle. In peak periods some North Shore services operate to and from here instead of Berowra and Hornsby. The station also receives three country services to the North Coast daily and one service to Moree and Armidale which pick up only. Then four country services to Sydney Terminal which drop off only.
